I finished reading šŸ“š Firebreak by Nicole Kornher-Stace over the weekend. Very enjoyable. I went into it blind, and was initially turned off by the first part of the story taking place within a video game (Iā€™m not a gamer). Glad I kept going.

Does anyone need an Apple Installer Scripting Guide from 1991? (The stuff I find in my basementā€¦)

Itā€™s time for Aliceā€™s Restaurant.

Thatā€™s a lot of twos.

Brought my Series 6 Apple Watch in for some AppleCare TLC (battery). Turns out they don’t do exchanges on the Watch, so I temporarily bought an Ultra until mine is back. Temporarily. It’s awfully nice though. Temporarily…hmmm…

Iā€™m thinking I might need new weatherstripping.

This weekend was a blur. I need another to recuperate.

I canā€™t decide if history will determine the final democratic American election was held in 2020, or 2024.

Watched Rear Window tonight. Iā€™ve seen it, 30+ years ago, and didnā€™t remember a thing. So good. Only minor quibble was the camera moving out of the apartment at the very end. Iā€™ve seen way too little Hitchcock. šŸŽ„

I rarely drop reading a book midway. I might do that today, unexpectedly, with the graphic novelization of 1984. Much of the text is dark on dark. The act of reading is pulling me out of the story. Also very narration-heavy where images could have fit better, at least to me. šŸ“š

No.

Iā€™ve never made a New Yearā€™s Resolution, partially because it feels so all-or-nothing. I truly have so many things Iā€™d like to do. I just had an idea to consider: A list of ten goals, with the resolution being to accomplish any five. Any combination of numbers works (3 of 9, 4 of 5ā€¦). Iā€™ll ponder this a bit.

Happy 2022! My limited-social-network-attention brain seems to have semi-forgotten about micro.blog in 2021. Iā€™ll try to fix that for the new year. What did I miss?

This remote WWDC thing is too exhausting. Really hoping itā€™ll be in person next year. (Seriously, easier to focus on just the conference when 3000 miles from home.)

The Analyze HTTP traffic in Instuments WWDC session digs into a (fake) location-stealing analytics framework. This is gonna be funā€¦ developer.apple.com/wwdc21/10…

Strong opposition to iCloud Photos for this driver.

Why is Apple allowing SMS-auth-only apps? ā€œApps that use a third-party or social login service to set up or authenticate the userā€™s primary account with the app must also offer Sign in with Apple as an equivalent option.ā€ Isnā€™t a phone number a third-party service?

Ten years ago today I hit File->New Project on the iOS app I still spend most of my time on. A few lines of code still survive from that first day - crazy. So I made this silly badge for a company presentation.

Anyone feel like a WidgetKit question? Stack Overflow: WidgetKit configuration, one parameter based on selection of another parameter, or same on Dev Forums, whichever floats your Q&A boat. (Also, please donā€™t laugh at my example of Captains Kirk, Picard, andā€¦ Crunch.)

What could possibly be wrong with this view hierarchy?

Someone with an inflated ego still can’t admit he lost. (Hopefully my last election #mbnov; maybe I’ll be able to think about other things tomorrow…)

It is somewhat puzzling that news outlets haven’t called the election yet. Seems about over to me. Hopefully tomorrow. #mbnov

Today’s #mbnov word is Stoop. My brain is on the election count, so every comment I can muster is related. Will I stoop so low to say that the current President will stoop so low and claim votes shouldn’t count? Why yes, he did that, so I’ll do this.

It just hit me that I havenā€™t watched a minute of television since Monday. Iā€™ve had a very close eye on election results, but purely via news web sites and some podcasts. Interesting.

The end is near. Either the election results or just everything, I canā€™t quite decide. #mbnov
